Comparative analysis of H-beam and other beam


1. H-beam is a high-efficiency and economic cutting profile (other are cold-formed thin-walled section steel, profiled steel plate, etc.), because of the reasonable section shape, they can make the steel more efficient and improve the bearing capacity. The flange of H-beam is widened, and the inner and outer surfaces are usually parallel, which makes it easy to connect with other members with high-strength bolts. Its size and composition are reasonable, and its model is complete, which is convenient for design and selection.

2. The flange of H-beam is of equal thickness, with rolling section and combined section composed of 3 plates welded. I-beams are all rolled sections. Due to poor production technology, the inner edge of the flange has a slope of 1:10. The rolling of H-beam is different from that of ordinary I-beam, which only uses a set of horizontal rolls. Because of its wide flange and no inclination (or very small inclination), a group of vertical rolls must be added to roll at the same time. Therefore, the rolling process and equipment are more complex than that of ordinary rolling mill. The maximum height of the rolled H-beam that can be produced in China is 800 mm, which exceeds the welded combined section. According to the national standard of hot rolled H-beam (GB / t11263-1998), H-beam is divided into three categories: narrow flange, wide flange and steel pile. The codes are Hz, HK and Hu respectively. The narrow flange H-beam is suitable for beams or compression bending members, while the wide flange H-beam and H-beam pile are suitable for axial compression members or compression bending members. Compared with H-beam, W, IX and iy are not as good as H-beam under the condition of equal weight.
